10. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
Released in 2011, the movie is about British retirees who come to India for vacation, where they stay at the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Starring Judie Dench, Maggie Smith and Dev Patel - most parts of the movie was shot in Jaipur and Udaipur.
Indian locations might have been done to death in Bollywood movies - the same is not true for foreign filmmakers. And they're welcome!

9. The Darjeeling Limited
The movie is about three brothers meeting together in India where they come to fulfill their spiritual needs. Starring Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman - the movie was extensively shot in Udaipur, the airport there and also Jodhpur.

Remember Daniel Pearl - the Wall Street Journal journalist who was kidnapped and killed by Al Qaida? His widow, Martane Pearl, wrote a book about it which was adapted into a movie, with Angelina Jolie playing her. Although the depicted location in the movie is Karachi, Pakistan, once again the crew did not get permission to shoot there and had to make do with Pune and Mumbai.

Although the movie is about hunting down Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan - the crew did not get the permission to shoot there (no surprises, huh?). So Kathryn Bigelow got her crew to Chandigarh and recreated the scenes where Navy SEALs encounter the criminal mastermind. The shooting locations in Chandigarh were the Punjab Engineering College premises in Sector 12 as well as the DAV College canteen in Sector 10.
