Real have not provided any further details but the 2008 World Player of the Year and club president Florentino Perez will appear at a ceremony at the Bernabeu stadium later today (1245 BST).
Spanish media are reporting that Ronaldo's new deal extends his contract by three years to 2018 and lifts his net annual salary to £14.8 million - £850,000 more per season than Lionel Messi at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Bale is on £8.3m a season and Ronaldo's package will see him earn almost twice as much - a deliberate move aimed at soothing the Portuguese's bruised ego after he lost the mantle of the world’s most expensive player.
Ronaldo joined Real from United in 2009 for what was then a world record fee of £80m.
The 28 year-old has scored 203 goals in 203 official games for the Spanish giants, helping them to the La Liga title in 2011 and a King's Cup triumph, but falling short in the Champions League.
